Our Story
Dot was founded in 2018 with the goal of streamlining investment into quality UK residential real estate. Initially focused on packaging individual apartments on a turnkey basis for retail investors, the business has evolved to now specialise in the conversion of residential blocks into boutique aparthotels, operated under the Dot brand on behalf of HNW, professional and institutional investors.
Dot was co-founded by Gray Stern and Lucy Sharp, with backing from US venture capital firms StageDotO, FJ Labs and the Al-Khalifa family office of Bahrain. Based in the medieval city of Chester in the UK’s North West, Dot is currently assembling a portfolio of Dot aparthotels throughout the region where rental demand and yields are strong.
GRAY STERN, FOUNDER
Gray spent the first 15 years of his career in Corporate Property Finance with Westpac NZ, Hanover and Sequoia, before emigrating from Auckland to London in 2013. He co-founded the specialist Buy-to-Let mortgage lender LANDBAY that same year, helping to establish the business as COO and CCO.
With LANDBAY now well-established as a leading UK mortgage lender, Gray is focused on direct property investing with Dot, a new platform based in the North-West and backed with seed capital from an American venture fund.
